The grave of the airmen.

The British plane, Lancaster ME 650, had in 1943 been on a bombing expedition together with 173 other planes to the German town at the Baltic, Königsberg. On their way back “our” plane was caught by a German fighter and shot on fire, and the plane crashed in a field south of Skarrild. The whole crew of 7 members died.
The people of Skarrild are still in touch with the veterans, who knew the killed persons. For several years the association of Skarrild people has held a commemoration at the grave of the airmen.
